2009 Long Course Southwest Cluster YMCA Champions2
The Countryside YMCA Swim Team in Lebanon, Ohio, is one of the most successful, fastest growing of its kind in the nation. Head Coach, Brad Isham, leads the CY Torpedoes to compete in both YMCA and USA Swimming meets.
- We are still in need of volunteers for this weekend’s League Championship Swim Meet for the morning, afternoon and final sessions both Saturday and Sunday. The sign up sheets are on the bulletin board outside the pool. If you have questions, contact Julie George at jgeorge@baldwingilman.com
- The entries for the League Championship is now available from the meets page.
- Thanks to everyone for a great Sectional Championship Meet this weekend. The first run of having a combined finals session—the “Green” championship—had a few bumps as the procedures for scratching and placing alternates was worked out, but there were many new League cuts (and a few Zone cuts, too). Countryside wants to give particular thanks to the teams that traveled from the North and South sites and the volunteers from all the Y’s that made the session possible.
-
The Awards Ceremony was found to conflict with one of the local school
district’s Spring Break schedule and will need to be rescheduled!
Stay tuned to this site for the latest updates.
Any questions please contact Beth Schlehr. - The Awards Ceremony will be on March 24th at 7:00 at Columbia Elementary on Columbia Rd. More information will be mailed home. Any questions please contact Beth Schlehr.
- The list of Sectional Workers has been added to the meet page. Please note that we are still short of several positions and we REALLY need everyone to help and participate. If you have a swimmer that is competing this weekend—YOU MUST WORK! We have many families that are certified officials that are working many sessions either officiating or running the timing console that are not listed on these sheets. Since finals are new this year to the Sectional meet we need everyone’s help in running these extra sessions. If your child participates in finals (11 & Over swimmers) you will be expected to be available to be a timer if necessary. This is in addition to your one required session. Please contact Julie George at jgeorge@baldwingilman.com or cell number 513-884-9802 to meet your obligation or with additional questions.
- The entries, revised warmups, and timeline for the League Sectional Championships are now available from the meets page.

Julie Voorhies is out of town so her husband, John, is trying to
distribute the remaining Psych Party gifts. He’ll be at Countryside

- Since there was a lot of confusion with the way that heat sheet ads work for the Winter Polar Bear Invitational and we were rather late getting the announcements out, we are extending the deadline to November 28th. If you can get your ad ready earlier, please do as it helps us figure out how to layout the smaller ads. Remember, photocopier-ready ads on a white background work best and if you’re drawing anything by hand, a fine-point marker will copy better than a thin line from a pen. As you can guess, this is absolutely as late as we can push the deadline so there won’t be another extension. Remember, each ad needs a separate form.
- A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all the families that so quickly signed up to work at Polar Bear!!!! We are almost full with the volunteer obligations and therefore several families have not had an opportunity to sign up. Julie George will be updating the volunteer lists and will repost them on Monday, November 16th, around 6PM. If you have already signed up – you will be on this list for your specific volunteer obligation – if you still need to sign up – please check for additional openings. Thanks again for the quick response!!! Also – a reminder that your family obligation is 4 jobs between Polar Bear and High School classic (Jan 16th and 17th). There is an additional volunteer obligation for the Championship meets.
-
Volunteer Sign Ups for Polar Bear were posted on the team bulletin
board on Monday, November 9th, at 6:00 PM. The team
volunteer requirement is that each family work 4 jobs between Polar Bear
and High School Classic (hosted at CY on January 16th and
17th). Please note the specific requirements for each position
along with start times to make sure the positions that you sign up for are
compatible. Timers sign up is a bit different – so please note that
information when signing up. Thanks.
