
Brad Isham

Brad became the head coach of the CY
Torpedoes in the fall of 2001. Brad has led Countryside to multiple
league championships and ymca national runner up finishes. He
has coached many high school individual state champions and ymca
national champions. Brad started at Gamble Nippert YMCA as an
assistant coach in 1993 and became head coach in 1995. Brad has
twice been named National Coach of the Year first when GNY won the
long course nationals in 2000 and again in 2005 when CY placed
second. He also serves on the Southwest Ohio Swim League
executive committee and the YMCA National coaches advisory
committee.

Jeff Stueve
Assistant Coach Senior Group

Jeff is currently assisting with the
Senior Group. He has been a CY Coach since 2003. He was
a Gold Group Coach from 2003-2007 and coached multiple league
champions, team and league record holders, National Top-16
qualifiers, and YMCA Long Course National qualifiers. From
2007-2008 he was the Blue Group Coach. He has been an
assistant Senior Group Coach since 2004. He is married to
former CY Coach Jenn and they have two sons.

Bob Hiller
Assistant Coach Senior Group
Email
Bob is currently
assisting with the Senior group. He has been a CY coach since 1993.
He was head coach on summer swim teams in New Orleans in 1970 and
1971, Cincinnati in 1974 and 1975, and an assistant coach with the
Cincinnati Marlins in 1976 and 1977. His three sons swam for CY and
his son Cody presently swims for Northwestern
University.

Bernie Dickman
Assistant Coach Blue & Gold

Bernie began her swimming
career at the age of 7 for Fairfax Swim Club. She continued to swim
USS and age group for Mariemont Aquatic Club and Anderson
Barracudas. She also swam for St. Ursula Academy earning four
varsity letters and First Team all GGCL Honors. In college she swam
for Xavier University where she was Swimmer of the Year her
freshmen-junior seasons. She was team Captain for the Muskies her
junior and senior years. Her senior year, she received Academic All
American Honors along with the entire Lady Aqua Muskie squad. She
began her coaching career at Madeira Swim and Tennis Club, where
she coached the team to two PPSL Silver Division titles. She also
coached for the CAC Seahawks. She left the Cincinnati area in
1993 and went on to be the founder and head coach of the
SIYMCA/Batesville Stingrays in Batesville, Indiana. She coached the
Stingrays to 4 consecutive undefeated SEISA Conference seasons
and titles. During her time in Batesville, she was also very active
and instrumental with the establishment of competitive teams at
Oldenburg Academy and Batesville High School. In 2002, the Dickman
family made a huge move to Paris, France. They returned to the US
in 2005 and moved to Lebanon, Ohio. Her family has been part of the
CY family since 2005 and she joined the coaching staff in 2009. She
is married to Mark and they have five sons. Her philosophy on
competitive swimming is simple: Practice cannot make perfect as no
one is perfect. Practice makes
habits… PRACTICE GOOD HABITS!

Matt Koloseike
Assistant Coach Gold & Blue Group

Matt was an eleven year
competitive swimmer, who began swimming USS and age Group swimming
at age eleven. He swam competitively in high school and in college
at The Virginia Military Institute. During his collegiate years, he
also became a very accomplished water polo player and was Captain
of the VMI team for two seasons. This will be Matt’s fifth
season with the Torpedoes. He began coaching at CY in the fall of
2006 working with the Blue Group and now enjoys coaching the Gold
Group swimmers. Prior to joining the Torpedoes, he was the Head
Coach of The Abington Gators in Clarks Summit, PA from
2004–2006 and as Assistant Coach from 2002–2004. While
in Pennsylvania, Matt was also an Assistant Coach at The Greater
Scranton YMCA for the summer programs in 2004 and 2005. Matt is a
coach member of USA Swimming and is a Level Two certified Age Group
Coach Member of ASCA (American Swim Coaches Association). While not
at the pool, Matt is marketing and sales manager in North American
Procter and Gamble Professional. He and his wife, Beth, have two
sons, Chris (15) and Jimmy (13) who swim for the
Torpedoes.

Bill Bothwell

Bill began his coaching
career with Countryside back in 1992, where he spent seven years
working with swimmers at all levels of the program. After taking a
few years off, Bill returned to coaching in 2003 at the South
Family YMCA in Kettering, OH where he primarily worked with
11-14 year olds preparing them to compete at the national level.
Returning to Countryside in 2007, he brings more than a decade of
coaching experience to our program, including his work with several
YMCA and USA Top16 swimmers. He was recognized as the 2006
Southwest Ohio YMCA Swim League Coach of the Year. He is a graduate
of The University of Cincinnati, with a degree in Exercise
Physiology, although he currently works as the Telecommunications
Manager for Kettering Health Network in Dayton, OH. Bill is
working with the age group swimmers in the Gold and Blue
groups.

Jim German
Assistant Coach Silver Group

Jim swam for GlenOak
High School in North Canton, Ohio in the mid-70’s. He went on
to swim for Eastern Kentucky University and the University of
Akron. Jim began coaching in 1978 as head coach of the Canton City
Schools USS Swim Team. He was there two years before moving on to
the North Canton YMCA, North Canton, OH where he was the head
coach for four years. Jim was the Men’s Assistant Swimming
Coach at the University of Akron from 1982-84. Beginning in 1986 he
was the assistant coach for Indiana (Pennsylvania) High School Boys
and Girls Swim Teams for five seasons. Jim became involved with the
Countryside YMCA Torpedoes as a volunteer coach in 2004. He has two
sons, Wally and Jack. Jack currently swims with
the Senior group. His wife Liz is a swimming instructor at the
Countryside YMCA.

Cristi Rachal
Assistant Coach Silver Group

Cristi started coaching
at Countryside in the fall of 2007. Before that she had been
at the Washington Township Rec Center, The WTRC Sharks, for about
13 years as the 8 and under coach. She also worked
as the assistant coach for the Centerville High School Team for
nine years, during which time the girls won the State High School
Meet. In all that time, Cristi has also taught at Dayton Public
Schools, as an Adapted Physical Education Teacher. In 2009,
she finished a Masters in Education in April and had a baby, her
second. The boys are Jackson and Thomson. Cristi’s husband
Kevin is the head age group coach for Cincinnati Aquatic
Club.

Amy Fryer
Assistant Coach Silver Group

Amy began coaching the
Silver group in 2009. She has many successful years as
a competitive swimmer and brings several years of coaching
experience to Countryside. Amy has coached at Hamilton
West YMCA and Powel Crosley YMCA. She is currently the head
coach for the Hamilton Elks summer club swim team Amy has two
daughters Ashley and Ellie who swim for the
Torpedoes.

Su Burns
Assistant Coach Bronze Group

Su has been with the CY
coaching staff since 1991 and has over 35 years experience as a
swim coach. Su has coached the eight and unders at
Countryside for the past 19 years. Prior to that, she coached for
the Middletown YMCA for eight years as well as for many Cincinnati
and Middletown area summer swim teams. Su is also the head coach
for Middletown High School varsity swim teams.
Her competitive swimming experience includes 10 years with
the Cincinnati Coca Cola AAU swim team (now-disbanded),
four years with Cincinnati Oak Hills High School and
four years with Miami University (captain junior and senior
years). She was a NAGWS collegiate national qualifier her junior
and senior years. Her sons, Brett and Matt, were National Team
swimmers for the Torpedoes. In July 2000, Su was honored as
SWY Long Course Coach of the Year, and in March 2003, was inducted
into the Southwest Ohio YMCA Swim League Hall of Fame. Su has a
BS and MEd from Miami University and is now
retired from the Middletown City School District after
35 years of teaching physical education. She has also been
employed by the Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross
as a Water Safety Educator for the past 25 years.
Su’s philosophy on coaching is one of keeping the
“fun” in fundamentals. She also emphasizes the YMCA
character development values of caring, honesty, respect,
responsibility, and faith.

Amy Sosnowski
Assistant Coach Bronze Group

Amy coaches the Bronze
Group with Su. Amy swam for Fairfield YMCA, Badin High School and
Rolling Hills Swim Club (where she still holds some records!). She
also coached Rolling Hills from 1983-87. She was voted MVP twice
while swimming for the University of Notre Dame. Amy and her
husband Jim have 3 kids, Mandi (18), Matthew (16)
and TJ (14).

Pete Wagner
Assistant Coach Bronze Group

Pete joined the
Countryside Torpedoes coaching staff in 2008 to work with the
Bronze Group. Pete taught aquatics classes at the Countryside YMCA
for 4 years. He is a certified YMCA Swim official and a
certified USA Swim Coach. He was the head coach for the Waynesville
Blue Dolphins summer swim team for the 2008 season. He
participated on competitive swimming and diving teams as a
child.
Pete has also been very involved in the Lebanon Youth Soccer
program where he coached both boys and girls team for 6 years.
He has also coached boys select soccer for Thunder United Metro;
t-ball and baseball for LBSA; and is currently coaching a girls
select soccer team for Warren County United.
Pete enjoys working with children of all ages to help them develop
their true potential in all areas. As a swim coach, it is his goal
to make sure that each child learns the proper stroke techniques;
develops a respect for the water; and has fun each time entering
the water.
